Three gas network areas
Northern Ireland's natural gas network is split into three areas. Phoenix runs the network in Greater Belfast and Larne. firmus energy runs it in the Ten Towns area. SGN Evolve runs Gas to the West. The network company looks after the pipes and connections. Your bill comes from your supplier.
Greater Belfast and Larne
This covers Belfast and the surrounding area, including towns such as Lisburn, Newtownabbey, Carrickfergus, Bangor, Newtownards and Larne. Businesses here can choose their gas supplier. The Consumer Council lists firmus energy, Go Power and SSE Airtricity as the options.
The Ten Towns area
This covers Antrim, Armagh, Banbridge, Craigavon (including Portadown and Lurgan), Newry, Ballymena, Ballymoney, Coleraine, Portstewart, Limavady and Derry / Londonderry. The Consumer Council lists firmus energy as the supplier for businesses in this area.
Gas to the West
This covers Strabane, Dungannon, Cookstown, Coalisland, Magherafelt, Omagh, Enniskillen and Derrylin. The Consumer Council lists SSE Airtricity as the supplier for businesses in this area.
Not on the gas grid?
Gas doesn't reach every street, even inside these areas. If your premises isn't connected, you may be using LPG or oil instead. To ask about a new connection, contact the network company for your area.
